Starting AtAircraft finishes have almost nothing in common with automotive paint. Most airframes wear a polyurethane topcoat over aluminum skin or composite structure, and the two substrates behave differently under the same polish. Aluminum panels flex, transmit heat, and sit alongside bare polished brightwork that oxidizes continuously. Composite sections — cowlings, fairings, winglets, radomes — hold heat and can be burned through by an aggressive pad long before a technician sees it happening.
Then there is the operating environment. An aircraft based along the New Jersey coast cycles through salt-laden air on the ramp and dry, sub-zero air at altitude, several times a day. That cycle drives corrosion into lap joints, fastener heads and control surface gaps far faster than anything a car sees. Add exhaust soot streaming down the fuselage, hydraulic and fuel staining around the gear, bug strike on every leading edge, and de-ice fluid residue baked into the belly through a Northeast winter.
Cabin windows are acrylic, not glass. A standard ammonia-based glass cleaner will craze them. Static ports, pitot tubes, antennas, drain masts and control surface gaps all have to be masked or avoided, and any work near flight-critical sensors is performed in accordance with the applicable maintenance data.
The commercial case is simple: paint and brightwork are the two things every buyer, broker and charter client sees first. A well-maintained finish protects resale value on a six- or seven-figure asset, and a neglected one costs far more to restore than it ever would have cost to maintain.
Exterior detailing starts at $350 for a single-engine piston such as a Cessna 172 and scales with aircraft size: approximately $500 for a complex single or light twin, $800 for a turboprop like a King Air or PC-12, $1,200 for a light jet, $1,800 for a mid-size jet and $2,500 for a heavy business jet. Enhancement polish packages start at $1,200, multi-stage correction at $2,000 and full restoration at $5,000. Final pricing is confirmed after inspection because paint condition, oxidation level and contamination vary widely between airframes.
All work is performed on site at your hangar, FBO ramp or maintenance facility. We travel throughout New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, the New York metro area and Delaware. We coordinate directly with your FBO or flight department for ramp access, badging and scheduling, and we can work after hours or overnight so the aircraft is available for its next departure.
Brightwork is the polished bare aluminum on leading edges, nacelles, spinners, exhaust stacks and belly panels. Unlike painted surfaces it oxidizes continuously and must be mechanically restored rather than washed. Work is billed hourly: $125 to $175 per hour for maintenance polish, $150 to $200 per hour for heavy oxidation removal, and by inspection for full mirror finish restoration. Typical totals run $300 to $800 on a single-engine aircraft, $1,000 to $2,500 on a King Air, $2,000 to $4,000 on a light jet and $5,000 to $15,000 or more on a heavy business jet.
Our Standard aviation coating at $2,500 is rated for approximately one year, the Premium coating at $4,500 for approximately three years, and the Ultimate coating from $8,000 for approximately five years. Service life depends on annual flight hours, whether the aircraft is hangared, exposure to de-icing fluid, and adherence to a maintenance wash schedule. Quarterly, semi-annual and annual maintenance plans are available and are strongly recommended to keep coverage in force.
No. Aviation finishes are typically polyurethane topcoats over aluminum or composite substrates, and cabin windows are acrylic rather than glass. We use aviation-approved, pH-balanced, non-caustic chemistry and dedicated acrylic-safe products, and we mask and avoid static ports, pitot tubes, antennas, drain paths and control surface gaps. Any work in the vicinity of flight-critical sensors is performed in accordance with the applicable maintenance data.
A basic exterior wash on a single-engine piston takes roughly three to five hours. A turboprop wash and brightwork touch-up typically takes a full day. A multi-stage paint correction on a mid-size jet runs three to five days, and a full restoration package can take one to two weeks. We schedule around your flight calendar and can split work across maintenance downtime.
Yes. Emergency AOG response is billed at $200 per hour per technician, and after-hours or weekend work at $150 per hour per technician. Standard rates are $125 per hour for a single technician and $250 per hour for a two-man crew. This covers situations such as an unscheduled charter, a last-minute demo flight, or de-ice fluid removal before a customer trip.

We work with owner-operators, corporate flight departments, Part 135 charter operators and FBOs, and we also detail ground support equipment and tugs so the entire ramp presentation is consistent.
